Delinat

Delinat

Delinat AG is a Swiss mail order company, specialising in sales of European wines from organic vineyards. The Delinat Standards are much stricter than the general requirements applying to the organic farming sector as well as other organic standards (EU, Bio Suisse, Demeter). For example, in addition to a ban on the use of chemically synthesised crop protection products, mineral fertilisers and genetic engineering, the Delinat standards are the first organic standards to demand biodiversity enhancement and greatly limit the use of copper and sulphur for disease control in vineyards. Wines produced to the strict Delinat standards display Delinat’s Roman snail symbol.
bio.inspecta organises Delinat inspections and certifications worldwide. Additionally, bio.inspecta supports Delinat in their advancement of the standards.

Benefit to customer

Delinat has been supporting organic viticulture research from the time of its establishment, focusing on reducing copper applications (for mildew), green cover trials in vineyards, enhancing biodiversity, and trialling fungus-resistant grape varieties (PIWI). The Delinat standards integrate new research findings on an ongoing basis. WWF Switzerland and the Swiss consumer protection foundation Stiftung für Konsumentenschutz SKS have awarded the new Delinat standards a «highly recommended» rating.
