Request for permission to introduce livestock from non-organic holdings

Under certain circumstances a holding's certification body may allow for non-organic livestock to be introduced to the holding, where organic animals are not available or not available in sufficient numbers. (Legal basis: Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance, Art. 16f). With the application evidence must be furnished showing that the holding can not obtain organic livestock of the required quality. With this application, an organic livestock keeper can apply for a derogation to buy in an increased number of non-organic animals not exceeding 40% of the existing stock.

The certification body can only rule on fully completed derogation requests. The permission may be subject to certain conditions. Processing of the request is subject to a fee in accordance with the schedule of charges.
