Innovation Prize for the Control Dossier – a shared milestone for Swiss agriculture
Suisse Tier 2025 in Lucerne opened its doors last Friday, 21 November 2025 – and right from the start, there was a special moment for us and our project partners: the module Control Dossier of the digital farm manager barto awarded the Innovation Prize. We are very pleased about this achievement, as the solution is the result of strong collaboration between Barto AG, bio.inspecta AG and AGRIDEA, with technical implementation by the Farming Team of Bison Schweiz AG. The award demonstrates that innovation in agriculture emerges when expert knowledge, digital expertise and practical relevance come together.
Today, the Control Dossier is a key component of the digital farm manager barto and supports farms in preparing for operational inspections. Inspections are a routine part of farm management, yet they often involve significant documentation and organisation effort. This is exactly where the digital approach comes in: it provides a structured overview of control points, automated data links and transparent documentation – from livestock management to fertilisation and plant protection. In this way, farmers can maintain a clear overview and prepare for their annual inspections more efficiently and effectively.
The module was originally developed for ÖLN and federal organic requirements. Thanks to positive feedback and the forward-looking nature of the project, it quickly became clear that the system should be expanded. In close collaboration, particularly with bio.inspecta, the system has now been extended to include Bio Suisse and Demeter as of this summer. For the first time, organic farms can also benefit from a digital, practical solution for inspection preparation – an important step toward modern, streamlined inspection processes.
As our CEO, Ueli Steiner, emphasized:
“By introducing the digital control dossier, we create transparency and efficiency in preparing operational inspections. This is a major step toward modern, and streamlined inspection processes for all farms.”
Our partners share this view. Ulrich Ryser, CEO of Barto AG, points out that the award highlights the value digital solutions already bring to farming families today – regardless of whether a farm operates conventionally or organically. Irene Weyermann from AGRIDEA adds that the project exemplifies how practical knowledge, technical expertise and digitalisation come together when the goal is genuine relief in day-to-day farm operations.
For us at bio.inspecta, this award represents more than recognition. It confirms the path we have taken toward digitalisation at the interface of agriculture, certification and practice. At the same time, it demonstrates that the industry is open to solutions that simplify processes, save time and improve the quality of documentation. We are particularly pleased that organic farms can now also benefit – because transparency and efficiency should be accessible regardless of the production system.
We would like to thank our partners Barto AG, AGRIDEA and Bison Schweiz AG for their excellent collaboration, as well as everyone involved in making this project a success. The Innovation Prize motivates us to continue on this path and to develop further digital solutions for the industry that simplify daily farm work – while keeping quality, sustainability and reliability at the centre.
